Elevation Certificates

On July 6, 2012, a law took effect that made significant reforms to the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). Among other things, this law requires Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to take immediate steps to eliminate a variety of existing flood insurance subsidies. Under the new law, flood insurance premium rates on many properties in Special Flood Hazard Areas (SFHA) will increase. If you live in a special flood hazard area, you should provide an Elevation Certificate to your insurance agent to obtain flood insurance and ensure that your premium accurately reflects your risk. An Elevation Certificate is an important tool that documents your building’s elevation and can also help you make decisions about rebuilding and mitigation after a disaster.

Hahn Surveying Group, Inc. offers Elevation Certificates in central Indiana.  Depending on your location and the complexity of the job, the cost of an Elevation Certificate can vary from $800 to $1000, although there are discounted rates available for multiple residences within the same neighborhood. Please contact our office for further details and pricing.
